Contents • • • • • • 4G91 [ ] The 4G91 uses a 78.4 mm bore and 77.5 mm stroke for a total displacement of 1.5 L (1,496 cubic centimetres). With a 9.5:1 compression ratio and DOHC, four-valve-per-cylinder head and multi-point EFI, this engine produces 115 PS (85 kW) at 6,000 and 135 N⋅m (100 ft⋅lbf) at 5,000 rpm. The 4G91 was a short-lived model, mainly built between 1991 and 1995 and rarely seen in export markets. There was also a carbureted model, with 97 PS (71 kW) at 6,000 and 126 N⋅m (93 ft⋅lbf) at 3,500 rpm.
Applications • • 4G92 [ ] The 4G92 displaces 1.6 L (1,597 cc). First appeared in late 1991 Japanese spec Mirage RS and Super R in form, it is basically bored out to 81 mm and tuned version of the 4G91 producing 145 hp (108 kW). Later was introduced fuel-efficient version. But 4G92 is best known of its high-performance equipped version, which fully replaced 'ordinary' in 1993. Power output raised as high as 168 hp (125 kW), as found in the Mirage Cyborg-ZR and JDM ’92 Lancer MR, making it 1.6 litre. A modular displacement (MD) version of the 4G92 was also produced – MD is Mitsubishi's system which helps improve fuel consumption.
